John Wick- Chad Stahelski’s 2014 action-thriller “John Wick” has Keanu Reeves in the lead role. As the movie opens, John is in deep mourning at the loss of his wife Helen. Her parting gift to him was a beagle puppy named Daisy, who represents both her love and hope for him during this difficult time. This little moment of comfort is dashed, though, when John’s beloved 1969 leader Mustang is coveted by Iosef Tarasov, the wild son of a prominent Russian crime leader. Iosef and his group unintentionally start a series of events that would put them in the path of one of the most deadly assassins in the criminal underground when they sneak into John’s house, take his car, and kill Daisy pointlessly.
Once a renowned hitman renowned for his merciless effectiveness, John Wick finds himself dragged back into the life he had left behind. Driven by sorrow and retaliation, John sets out on an unrelenting mission to find Iosef, a goal that places him in conflict with the whole Tarasov criminal organization, which is headed by Iosef’s father, Viggo Tarasov. The film presents viewers to a sophisticated and painstakingly constructed world of assassins, complete with covert networks like The Continental, which serves as a haven for professional murderers, and its own set of rules for behavior. John’s reputation as “Baba Yaga”—the boogeyman—is fully realized when he fights his way through waves of extremely competent opponents.
